BLOG 6 - Postgraduates Studies

Imagen
This topic is quite interesting and has been important to me since the end of last year. Curiously, I am very interested in doing a postgraduate degree abroad and related to the world of film music. This is obviously a topic for the future, as I need to finish my bachelor's degree first. I was lucky that a former student friend of mine told me about a graduate degree that fascinated me. This takes place at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, south of Berlin, in Potsdam, a school dedicated exclusively to the world of cinema and in which the Babelsberg studio is located. The plan is to take it one or two years after graduating from my career and with the aim of improving myself artistically and technologically, opening up culturally, looking for new work opportunities and having the experience of composing for a large studio in the modern film industry. One of the great challenges will then be to learn German in the first place. During this year I have been learning the basic...

BLOG 5 - Academic Challenges for 2021

Imagen
This year started in a not so encouraging way, I knew that I was going to have to stay home again, so I prepared myself in a certain way. I was lucky to have a good personal computer and a relatively decent space to get on in college. At home, one is especially faced with invasive schedules. To having to eat lunch in class or having to interrupt different household tasks, sometimes even doing them at the same time. If I had to give it some positive aspect, I would say that it is the time that one gains to be with the family, with my sisters or my dog for example. One shares more intimate things, and also academic things that we often overlook with each other. I would also highlight that, in the absence of travel time by public transport (since I live in a peripheral commune), I have much more time to study and do other types of activities, such as crafts, riding a bicycle, learning things related to computers and even take extra courses. What I really hate about all this is that the ...

BLOG 4 - My Dream Job

Imagen
Well, the truth is that when I was little I wanted to practice various professions, but today, my dream job is very clear. I am very focused on dedicating myself to film music. And among all of them, my favorite is animation. Working for large animation companies I imagine it very challenging, meeting many people from all over the world who are fanatical of cartoons and the great value in the culture they have. I feel that it can also be unpredictable, as I could be commissioned with any type of music and I will have to be constantly learning. I imagine it will be an office job, but with a lot of interaction with other people from the creative world, and the truth is that for me that is fine. This type of work can be done from a distance, but I think that the work team meetings will be anywhere in the world, it will depend on the origin of the series / film, so I imagine that I will still have to travel often, depending on who contradicts me. Well, about the salary, I assume that the b...

BLOG 3 - The Role of Technology in my Profession and Life

Imagen
In general, for me, technology outside the professional field is not the most important thing, as long as it serves me for my social networks, to communicate and for leisure it is enough. Now, with my professional interests, things are very different. I like to compose and produce music for audiovisual media; cinema, television, video games, etc. For this, the most important tool and therefore my favorite is the computer. During the past year I decided to build my own computer. For this I saw many videos on the internet where I learned about each of its components; hard drive, motherboard, ram, processor, etc. Next, I have to install a DAW on my computer, a program for recording audio and also for creating data with digital sounds (MIDI). Thanks to these digital sounds, I can realistically have a large orchestra at my fingertips without having to pay a single musician. Now the only thing missing is to have a good external audio card to which to connect different controllers, instrument...

BLOG 2 - The Best Concert/Holiday Ever...

Imagen
Today I am going to talk about my favorite concert. I don't think I have photos from that day as it was a long time ago, but I will use photos from the show in general. This was the year 2012 when I was almost 14 years old: The Wall, by Roger Waters. That day we arrived early, after lunch time. I was with my father "en cancha". There were many people of all ages and on the stage there was a small wall half built. At about nine in the afternoon the show began with the first song on the album: In the flesh, which ended with a plane that crossed the entire stadium until it crashed on the stage. From there, each of the songs in the musical followed one another, and with it different types of fireworks, giant puppets, huge balloons shaped like pigs, monsters and political allegories.   The last song was The Trial, one of my favorites, where the monsters that appeared there were projected on an already completed wall. Finally the wall is destroyed in front of everyone and the c...

BLOG 1 - A country/place I would love visiting.

Trans-Siberian Railway, Russia. There was a time when I spent a lot of time watching videos of travelers on YouTube, and one of the stops that seemed most spectacular to me is the Trans-Siberian; a very long train of more than 10,000 km in length, which connects Mosku, the western side of Russia, with Vladivostok, on the Pacific coast of the same country, opposite Japan.  This gigantic railway line was built during the time of the Sobetic Union with the aim of connecting the vast Russia from east to west, and thus control the possible independence moods of some extreme regions. For this reason, at present the trip that lasts at least six days is loaded with history. One of the things that motivates me the most to travel on that train is that people from all over the world and from different cultures travel on it, some of whom surely don't even understand english or spanish. The economy class is a space where all people live and share. If it were on the Trans-Siberian I would like t...

POST 8 - A Subject you enjoy studying

Imagen
During this semester my favorite subject was Orchestration. Undoubtedly. Well actually the line of orchestration has always been my favorite thema of my career. This consists of learning about the different instruments of the orchestra, their physical and acoustic characteristics, as well as the way in which they have been used throughout history. With this we manage to learn how we can write a good and coherent work for orchestra, where all the instruments are perfectly written or, on the other hand, we can transform a small piece into an orchestral type. During classes we do various things; We analyze scores by various composers and review the topics we are learning in that particular case, we also carry out activities that consist of converting pieces of one, two or three instruments into orchestral works and we review our successes and weaknesses during class. It is my favorite theme, because I believe that the orchestra is the most powerful instrument of all, I think that it is in...
